Curriculum Glossary of terms:
Substantive knowledge – the foundational knowledge and concepts that are essential to understanding a subject
•Disciplinary Knowledge – the unique method, approaches and ways of thinking within a subject
•Sequencing – the intentional ordering of learning experiences to promote understanding and retention of knowledge
•Component – a part or element of a larger whole
•Composites – multiple components or elements combined to form a larger whole
•Cultural capital – the knowledge, skills and experiences that are valued in a particular society or culture
•Progression – the systematic development of knowledge and skills over time
•Curriculum coherence – the alignment and consistency of learning objectives, instructional methods, and assessments across a subject area or curriculum
